Terms of Use
Effective October 18, 2026
These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Ember Development Studios, LLC (“Ember”, “we”, “us”) for the Baro mobile app and this website. By creating an account or using Baro, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Baro.
Baro is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, prevent or predict any disease, condition or symptom. If you think you may be having a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number now.
1. What Baro is
Baro shows barometric pressure forecasts for the areas you save and keeps a private journal of the moods and symptoms you choose to record, so you can see the two side by side. Once you have logged enough, Baro shows summaries of what you recorded on days the pressure changed. Those summaries describe your own entries. They do not show that the weather caused a symptom, and they are not a forecast of how you will feel.
Weather information comes from third-party sources and can be wrong, late or unavailable.
2. Not medical advice
- Nothing in Baro is medical advice, and Baro does not replace a doctor, pharmacist or other qualified clinician.
- Talk to a clinician before you start, stop or change any medicine, treatment or activity because of something you saw in Baro. Never ignore professional advice or delay getting it because of Baro.
- Baro does not monitor your health. No one at Ember reads your journal to look for problems, and reminders or alerts may be delayed or not arrive.
3. In an emergency
Call 911 (or your local emergency number) or go to the nearest emergency room right away if you have, for example:
- a sudden, severe headache, or the worst headache you have ever had;
- a headache with fever, a stiff neck, confusion, fainting, a seizure, trouble seeing or speaking, or after a head injury;
- signs of a stroke: face drooping, weakness or numbness in an arm or leg, or slurred speech;
- chest pain or pressure, or trouble breathing.
If you are thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, in the United States) or your local crisis line.
4. Who can use Baro
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract. You may use Baro only where it is lawful to do so.
5. Your account
Give accurate information, keep your password and sign-in methods secure, and use your account for yourself only. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at support@emberdevstudios.com if you think someone else is using it.
7. Acceptable use
Do not:
- use Baro unlawfully, or to harm anyone;
- access another person’s account, or try to get around Baro’s security or subscription checks;
- copy, scrape, reverse engineer or resell Baro or its data, except where the law allows it despite this rule;
- disrupt or overload the service, or use bots to create accounts or send requests;
- use Baro to give medical advice or care to other people.
8. Your content
Your journal and everything you enter remain yours. You let us store and process them only to provide Baro to you, as described in the Privacy Policy. You can export or delete them at any time.
9. Third-party services
Baro relies on services from others, including weather data, Apple and Google sign-in and stores, and your phone’s geocoding service. Their own terms apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for their accuracy or availability.
10. Our rights and your license
Baro, its name, logo, design and software belong to Ember and are protected by law. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Baro app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, under these Terms and the store’s rules. If you send us feedback, we may use it without any obligation to you.
11. Changes and ending
- You can stop using Baro and delete your account at any time (Profile → Privacy & Security → Delete Account).
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms or puts the service or other people at risk.
- We may change or stop offering Baro. Where we can, we will give reasonable notice so you can export your data.
- We may update these Terms and will change the effective date above. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Using Baro after that means you accept the new Terms.
Sections 2, 3, 8 and 12 to 17 survive the end of these Terms.
12. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, Baro is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that Baro will be uninterrupted or error-free, that weather information will be accurate, or that any pattern Baro shows is meaningful for your health.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Ember will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of or reliance on Baro, including any health decision. Our total liability for any claim relating to Baro is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Baro in the 12 months before the claim and US $50. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you; nothing in these Terms limits rights you have that cannot be waived by law.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Please contact us first at support@emberdevstudios.com so we can try to resolve any problem informally within 30 days. If we cannot, disputes will be decided by the state or federal courts in Volusia County, Florida, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring the claim in your home courts.
15. If you downloaded Baro from the App Store
- These Terms are between you and Ember only, not Apple. Ember, not Apple, is solely responsible for Baro and its content.
- Your license to use Baro is limited to Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that Baro may also be used by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for Baro.
- If Baro fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for Baro. To the maximum extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Baro, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses caused by a failure to conform to a warranty are Ember’s responsibility, to the extent not disclaimed in these Terms.
- Ember, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to Baro or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that Baro fails to meet any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- If a third party claims that Baro or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, Ember, not Apple, is solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use Baro, such as your mobile data plan.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, once you accept them, have the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Questions, complaints or claims about Baro go to Ember Development Studios, LLC, DeLand, Florida, USA, support@emberdevstudios.com.
16. If you downloaded Baro from Google Play
Google Play’s Terms of Service apply to your download and any purchase. These Terms are between you and Ember, not Google, and Ember is responsible for Baro.
17. General
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Ember about Baro. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a right, we have not given it up. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a merger or sale of Baro. We may send you notices in the app or by email.
